I’ve always been intrigued by powerful brands and the loyalty built with consumers. In my twenties, I landed my first ‘big job’ with an Anheuser Busch wholesaler where I worked as a district territory manager overseeing major accounts. For a non-beer drinker like me, it wasn’t about the brew but rather the pride I felt in representing this international brand admired by millions. I later became an account manager at John Deere where I learned the power of brand marketing. Whether I was consulting with clients on increasing sales through product placement, or educating their consumers, I learned that powerful brands are built on one thing – their relationship with their audience.
In 2003, I decided to take a leap in a new sector - print media. As a marketing manager at Johnson Publishing Company, I successfully developed and executed integrated marketing projects for advertising clients such as Proctor and Gamble, The Clorox Company and Chrysler. Through the development of compelling brand content for print advertorials and product messaging, I realized that I had a unique ability for connecting big brands and creating successful partnerships, or what I like to call, ‘brand-weaving.’ I was good at what I did and was working in an industry I loved!
Then in 2008, the recession struck and everything changed. Print media took a major hit. Budgets were slashed and advertisers were cutting back on ads and integrated programs. My employer suffered major financial setbacks and co-workers were being laid-off weekly. I couldn’t wait for someone to determine my future, so I decided to take a leap of faith to leave the company and go out on my own.
I took three months to redefine and strategize my craft. During this time, former business contacts were reaching out to me for help crafting product messaging and consulting on long/short-term marketing projects. A light-bulb went off. I realized that I had a gift for helping others create the story of their brand and manage their strategies. I finally learned the value of MY work and how it defined ME. And thus, Hillmore Marketing was born.

From consulting with a small business owner on crafting their brand messaging, to managing a marketing project from soup to nuts for a busy director, I’m there to do what it takes to help my clients succeed.
